Edu Falaschi, well-known worldwide for being the Angra and Almah’s vocalist, started his professional life in 1990 taking part in a band called Mitrium. This work allowed him to develop as a composer and then the band registered its first demo with the song “Just Remember”. In 1992, they released the second one with the tracks "The Shadows" and "You Can Choose The Side Of Darkness" both written by Edu Falaschi.
As Mitrium was making such a great success in Santos, the band went to São Paulo in 1993 where they signed a contract with Army Records label in order to release his first “split-LP” entitled “Eyes Of Time” containing four tracks: "Eyes Of Time", "Run From The Fire", "Lives So Close" and "The Shadows". The record received several positive notes from the specialized media and Mitrium was considered one of the best bands in São Paulo.
After that, Edu Falaschi left the band Mitrium to dedicate his time only to college from 1994 to 1998 and then he was invited to produce the first studio album of the band Symbols Of Time which had his brother, Tito Falaschi, as a vocalist. Even before the pre-production, the band changed its line-up a few times and Edu Falaschi ended up taking part of the project also as a member.
Still in 1998, Edu Falaschi started another great project. He arranged, produced the voice melodies and sang all tracks of “Ordinary Existence” from the band Venus, in São Paulo. Besides that, the band Symbols Of Time decided to change its name for Symbols due to the line-up being so different from the start and released the first album entitled “Symbols”.
Once again Edu Falaschi would show his work as vocalist, composer, and professional arranger for the entire metal scene in Brazil, leading Symbols to be known as one of the most important Heavy Metal bands in the country. The band was definitely acclaimed in 2000, when its second album “Call To The End”, was very well sold in Brazil and abroad.
In June 2000, the band Angra was selecting new members for its line-up and Edu Falaschi was one of them. In August he was invited to make some tests for being the vocalist of the band, which is considered one of the most important Heavy Metal groups in the world.In January 2001, the vocalist Tito Falaschi and the guitar player Rodrigo Arjonas, left the band Symbols but Edu Falaschi continued with the other members since they were already writing the songs for the third album. Nevertheless, some months later, Edu Falaschi was invited to be the new Angra’s vocalist and decided to leave Symbols.
Working hard in 2001, Edu Falaschi was soon well-known worldwide as a singer and composer. He received a golden record in Brazil for his first album with Angra entitled “Rebirth”, which had been released only 40 days before. This was a new mark for the band’s career. His name was also known again in Japan where he was voted as the third best vocalist in the world by the most important rock magazine, Burrn!
Edu Falaschi has always been mentioned in magazines and sites around the world and being voted as one of the best Metal vocalists in present time. For this album, he composed “Nova Era”, “Heroes Of Sand”, and “Bleeding Heart”, among others.
In the end of 2001 the band went out on tour that extended for 2002 and finished in the beginning of 2003. Angra made more than a hundred concerts in the world touring for almost all continents. Due to the great success led by the voice of Edu Falaschi sounding all around the world, the band was so requested that they decided to release a new EP entitled “Hunters And Prey” and a new DVD/CD “Rebirth World Tour – Live in São Paulo”. All these material were very well sold in Brazil and worldwide. After having an exhausted tour and releasing so much stuff, the group took a year of vacation.
In 2003, Angra played in two European festivals along with great names of the scene in the world like Whitesnake, Motorhead, Saxon, etc. In November, Edu Falaschi meets again to the band that presented him to the world in order to start the pre-production of the new album that would be called “Temple Of Shadows”.
Edu Falaschi recorded the vocals in Germany and left his mark once more. At this time, he sang with great names of music like Milton Nascimento, Kai Hansen (Gamma Ray) and Hansi Kursh (Blind Guardian). Besides that, he composed three of the main songs for the album: “Spread Your Fire”, “Angels And Demons” and “Wishing Well”.
The álbum was released on September, 2004 in Brazil and Japan with a great success! The most important Japanese journalists wrote the best notes and the album were considered the most sophisticated in the band history, one mark in Heavy Metal, and they also declared that there was the best performance of Edu Falaschi. Not enough, “Temple Of Shadows” has got more than fifty awards around the world and for Edu Falaschi, the most important of these ones, was being voted as second best vocalist in the world in 2005.
Since the “Temple Of Shadows” release, Edu Falaschi did more than a hundred and fifty shows with Angra passing by the South, Central and North America, European, Asia and Oceania which gave to the band, and specially to Edu Falaschi, all the success deserved.
Besides being extremely busy because of his activities with Angra, Edu Falaschi was also invited to participate in some friends records and to sing the versions “Pegazus Fantasy” and “Blue Forever” in Portuguese, from the Japanese anime “Saint Seiya”, which became a successful TV show in Brazil and worldwide.
From December, 2005 to April, 2006, he recorded his first solo Project entitled “Almah” which was released in June. Edu Falaschi could show his talent as a composer, arranger and producer since he wrote all lyrics, songs, and made the orchestral, acoustic guitars, basses, keyboards, guitars and drummer arrangements. Besides that, he invited great names of Rock to participate in this album, such as: Emppu Vuorinem (Nightwish’s guitar player), Lauri Porra (Stratovarius’ bassist), Casey Grillo (Kamelot’s drummer), Mike Stone (Queensrÿche’s guitar player) and Edu Ardanuy (Dr. Sin’s guitar player).
Still in 2006, Edu Falaschi was invited to participate in the Uli Kusch project (ex-Helloween drummer) called “Glorious”, along with great names of the metal scene in the world. He was also invited by Play Arte, to record for the second time the Portuguese version to the music “Never”, an open soundtrack of the movie “Saint Seiya - Tenkai-hen Joso - Overture”, from the anime “Saint Seiya”, that was exhibited on the movies throughout Brazil in the end of that year.
In 2006, the vocalist also recorded the new studio album of Angra entitled “Aurora Consurgers”. Even before being released, the sixth album of the band had already received positive critical reviews all over the world, mainly in Europe and Japan. So in September the band went out on an extensive tour which was interrupted some months later because of a few administrative problems with some people in the crew.
As Angra was taking a break, Edu Falaschi dedicated his time to bring Almah back to the scene with a new line-up. He selected the guitar player Marcelo Barbosa, from Brasília, who was graduated in Berklee, EUA, and has already been played with many international and representative names like Greg Howe. He also called Paulo Schroeber and Marcelo Moreira, that are considered the best guitar player and drummer from the southern in Brazil, and finally, the bassist Felipe Andreoli, who plays with Angra as well and is considered one of the most respectful Heavy Metal musicians in the world.
With a new line-up, Almah released its second CD called “Fragile Equality” that has lyrics based on a book story which the main theme is the balance among all the elements in universe. The album was released in September, 2008, by JVC (Asia), AFM (Europe/USA) and Laser Company (Brazil/Latin America), and was indicated as one of the best releases of the year by some important and specialized Heavy Metal press vehicles worldwide.
In parallel to the many awards received, the group went out on a Brazilian tour passing by the main cities in the country. It was also a kind of inspiration for Edu Falaschi beginning to write his first book on a “mangá” style that will be released in 2009 throughout Brazil. The book will contain the CD without the lyrics so that people can use it as a karaoke one.
In the beginning of 2009 the Almah tour was interrupted since Angra announced its return for May. The band, that has Ricardo Confessori back on the drums, will play with Sepultura, that is one of the most important Brazilian bands. The other members of Angra remain the same: Edu Falaschi on vocals, Rafael Bittencourt and Kiko Loureiro on guitars, and Felipe Andreoli on bass. The band is preparing a big return and intends to play the great successes of its brilliant career.
